Asian love/hate.

Did you ever wonder why Asians get offended when you mis-guess their country of origin?! Besides the fact that it is kind of ignorant to believe that everyone looking Asian is from China or Japan, there's also some inter-ethnic disputes that shape the insult beyond the ignorance. I will introduce you to some of Asian love/hate relationships. One thing you notice when you interact with Chinese people is that they HATE Japanese. Due to the historical disputes between China and Japan and recent conflicts regarding the Senkaku islands, the sino-japanese hate is as real now as it was in the end of the 19th century. Asian Games 2010(Guangzhou, China), the country delegates are marching with their flags. Chinese audience are clapping and cheering to the brave sportsmen. Japanese delegates are announced- the audience goes silent with some random clap or two. In the distance you can hear someone comment “Wǒ cāo". Which basically means *uck.Though they hate Japanese, still majority of cars purchased by Chinese are of Japanese brands. However there is a part of China, that loves Japan. Though, that part of China might disagree of BEING a part of China. I'm talking about Taiwan. They dress like Japanese, they love to eat sushi, in transportation 3 languages are used: Chinese, English and Japanese. As one of my co-workers said "They are Japanese wanna-bes".However, Chinese and Taiwanese have something in common- they don't like Koreans. The reason behind is "They(Koreans) think that everything is made in Korea".Wrap up of today's Asian Studies: Chinese hate Japanese. Taiwanese love Japanese. Everyone doesn't like Koreans, even Koreans(Korean war and the bombing in November 2010).
